Dr. Rajiv J. Shah
President, The Rockefeller Foundation
Dr. Rajiv Shah has been the President of The Rockefeller Foundation since 2017, where he has led global philanthropic efforts focused on healthcare and disease prevention research, food security, climate financing, and renewable energy access.

The Rockefeller Foundation has worked in the Indo-Pacific for over 100 years. Under Dr. Shah, the Foundation’s current projects in Asia include improving electricity access, disease tracking, and agricultural transitions.
​
He was appointed in 2009 to the role of Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and served in this role until 2015. He served as the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Undersecretary of Agriculture for Research, Education and Economics from 2009 until 2010. Shah worked for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation from 2001 until 2009, where he served in various roles, including Director of Agricultural Development, Director of Strategic Opportunities, Deputy Director of Policy and Finance and Chief Economist.

Shah earned his bachelor’s from the University of Michigan and holds postgraduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and the Wharton School of Business.
